Archer Maps Out a DFW Air Taxi Network

Air taxis have been a someday idea for years. This week one company put specific DFW locations on a map.

Archer Aviation unveiled planned air taxi networks for Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and Austin, according to Dallas Innovates. The plan is to turn 60 to 90 minute drives into 10 to 20 minute flights.

The DFW stops

Archer's planned DFW network includes:

  • DFW International Airport
  • Dallas Love Field
  • Addison Airport
  • Arlington Municipal Airport
  • Fort Worth Meacham International Airport
  • Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport
  • Frisco Station, a 242-acre mixed-use development

The timeline and the price

Passenger service depends on FAA type certification for Archer's Midnight aircraft, which the company expects in early 2027. Midnight is a piloted, four-passenger aircraft that can travel at 150 mph, with a maximum range of 100 miles. A spokesperson said fares will be comparable to premium rideshare such as Uber Black.

Archer is not alone. Competitor Joby has signed a lease for a 45,000 square foot hub at Alliance Air Trade Center in Haslet and has run test flights between DFW Airport and Perot Field.

What it means for DFW property

I want to be careful here. This is a plan, not a finished network, and certification timelines can move. Nothing in this announcement changes a home's value today.

What it does tell you is where two operators are placing real bets. Transportation access has long shaped how DFW grows. A named stop is one more piece of information for anyone holding or buying land, or tracking where new development goes next.

For land and development clients, I would watch:

  • The areas around Frisco Station and the Alliance corridor in the north
  • Addison and Love Field closer in
  • Arlington and Meacham on the west side

What it means for buyers and sellers

For most buyers, this is a story to follow, not a reason to change plans. For land owners and investors near the named sites, it is worth keeping an eye on how these plans develop over the next couple of years.

The bottom line

Air taxis in DFW are not here yet, but the map exists now. I will keep tracking it. If you own land near one of these locations or are thinking about buying, I am happy to walk through what is happening around it.
